The traditional production process of glass fiber and carbon fiber products includes pultrusion, roll-wrapping tube, molding, vacuum infusion, SMC, etc. For products with the same cross-sectional area such as carbon fiber round tube and square tube, noramlly people will use the pultrusion and roll-wrapping to make it. But these traditional processes all have certain process defects.
Advantages: high production efficiency, cheap price, unlimited product length.
Disadvantages: Most of the fiber directions are in the longitudinal direction, resulting in poor transverse strength. Large-sized products will add fiber mats on the inner and outer surfaces, which can enhance a little transverse strength, but products that require shear strength cannot meet. Because the fiber bundle is easy to slip and shift, it is difficult to be limited by the mold, resulting in poor concentricity and straightness.
Advantages: Both longitudinal and lateral strength are good, concentricity and straightness are good, and the surface texture is beautiful.
Disadvantages: The length is limited by the mold and production equipment, the production efficiency is low, the price is expensive, it requires a lot of labor and the process is numerous.
The Pull-Braiding process solves the shortcomings of the above process and has the advantages of high production efficiency and unlimited length of the pultrusion process and the advantages of high horizontal and vertical strength, straightness and concentricity of the coiled tube molding process.
