Fiberglass Tube

Fiberglass Tube

Product Description

Fiberglass tubes, fully known as fiberglass – reinforced plastic tubes (FRP tubes), integrate a variety of materials and advanced processes in their manufacturing process. Fiberglass, as the core reinforcement material, mostly uses alkali – free fiberglass yarns or fabrics. These fibers possess high strength and high modulus characteristics, and their tensile strength can reach 8 – 10 times that of ordinary steel, providing a solid mechanical support for the tubes.
The resin matrix is another crucial component of the tubes. Common resin types include unsaturated polyester resin, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, etc. Different resins endow the tubes with various performance characteristics. For example, epoxy fiberglass tubes can be used for a long time in high – temperature environments above 200°C, while polyester resin tubes have a relatively low cost and show good cost performance in general applications.
In addition, in order to further enhance the stiffness of the tubes and reduce costs, inorganic fillers such as quartz sand and calcium carbonate are often added, which is particularly common in sand – filled tubes (RPM tubes). These fillers are evenly distributed in the tube wall, effectively improving the overall structural performance of the tubes.
In terms of the forming process, fiberglass tubes mainly include winding, pultrusion, centrifugal casting, and other methods. Winding tubes are formed by winding impregnated fiberglass around a mandrel at a specific angle, giving them extremely high circumferential strength and making them suitable for large – diameter pipelines, such as municipal water supply and drainage systems. Pultruded tubes are formed by pulling a mixture of fiberglass and resin through a die, with prominent longitudinal strength and the ability to be produced continuously, often used for structural components or small and medium – diameter pipelines. Centrifugal casting tubes are produced by injecting fiberglass, resin, and fillers into a high – speed rotating mold, and the materials are evenly distributed and cured by centrifugal force to form high – precision tubes with smooth inner and outer walls, suitable for occasions with high requirements for fluid transportation.
Fiberglass tubes have a wide range of specifications. The pressure rating (PN) covers 0.1 – 2.5MPa, which can meet the needs of different pressure conditions; the stiffness rating (SN) ranges from 1250 – 10000N/m², which is achieved by flexibly adjusting the wall thickness and structural design, providing adaptability for various complex engineering environments.

Application

Fiberglass Tubes have a wide range of applications, including:

Industrial Field

Fiberglass tubes are widely used in the petroleum and chemical industries for conveying various corrosive media, such as acids, alkalis, and salts. They are also suitable for applications in papermaking, seawater desalination, gas transmission, and other fields. Their corrosion resistance and high-temperature tolerance make them ideal pipeline materials. Additionally, fiberglass tubes can be used as tool handles, railing systems, extendable tools, and more.

Power and Communication Field

The excellent electrical insulation properties of fiberglass tubes make them extensively used in the power industry, such as for cable protection pipes. They can be directly buried under roadways during installation, without the need for additional concrete protection layers or steel reinforcement. In the communication field, fiberglass tubes can be used to protect communication cables, preventing external interference and corrosion.

Construction and Decoration Field

Fiberglass tubes are used in the construction industry for structural support and framework, leveraging their lightweight and high-strength characteristics. In decoration, fiberglass tubes can be used to create various decorative components, such as railings and handrails.

Electronic and Electrical Field

Fiberglass tubes are used in the electronic and electrical equipment industry for wire insulation protection in devices such as motors, home appliances, and electric heating equipment. Their good dielectric properties and flexibility meet the strict requirements for insulating materials in electronic and electrical equipment.

Other Fields

Fiberglass tubes can also be used to manufacture various special-purpose pipes, such as antenna casings and flagpoles. In the smelting industry, fiberglass tubes can be used to protect cables and equipment from damage caused by high-temperature splashing.
Fiberglass tubes, with their superior performance and broad application prospects, are playing an increasingly important role in modern industry and daily life. As technology continues to advance and innovate, the performance and application scope of fiberglass tubes will further expand, providing more reliable material support for the development of various industries.

Advantages Of Fiberglass Tubes

Excellent Mechanical Properties

Fiberglass tubes possess high strength and rigidity, enabling them to withstand significant loads and stresses. They have high tensile strength and good dimensional stability, remaining undeformed even under high impact forces. Compared with traditional metal tubes, fiberglass tubes are much lighter in weight but do not compromise on strength. They are 30% lighter than aluminum and 70% lighter than steel, yet they maintain comparable strength levels. Additionally, fiberglass tubes exhibit good flexural modulus of elasticity and impact resistance, addressing the shortcomings of metal tubes, such as susceptibility to corrosion and lack of torsional elasticity.

Strong Corrosion Resistance

Fiberglass tubes can resist the erosion of a wide range of chemical substances, including acids, alkalis, and solvents. Whether used in corrosive environments such as chemical and petrochemical industries or in contact with seawater, untreated sewage, corrosive soil or groundwater, and organic solvents, they can maintain long-term stability with a service life of up to 50 years.

Good Electrical Insulation

Fiberglass itself has good electrical insulation properties, which are further enhanced by the insulating effects of the resin. This makes fiberglass tubes highly suitable for applications in electrical and electronic fields. For example, silicone resin fiberglass tubes can be used for electrical insulation protection of wiring in motors, home appliances, and electronic instruments.

High Temperature Resistance and Flame Retardancy

Fiberglass tubes can be used within a broad temperature range. For instance, PE-coated fiberglass tubes can withstand temperatures as high as 120°C, while some fiberglass tubes produced by special processes have even higher temperature resistance. Moreover, fiberglass tubes are flame retardant and do not burn when exposed to fire. They can be used over a long-term temperature range of -35°C to 139°C.

Easy to Process and Install

Fiberglass tubes can be easily cut, drilled, welded, and bonded according to specific needs, making them convenient for customization and installation. Their lightweight and compact size make them easy to transport and handle. Installation does not require special tools or professional knowledge, reducing transportation and installation costs.

Environmentally Friendly and Durable

Fiberglass tubes are environmentally friendly products that do not release harmful substances during production or use. Their long service life reduces the need for frequent replacement and disposal of pipes, thereby minimizing waste and environmental impact.
