FRP Rebar
Product Description
FRP rebar, short for Fiber Reinforced Polymer rebar, is a high-performance composite material that uses glass fibers as the primary reinforcing material combined with a resin matrix (such as epoxy resin or vinyl ester resin). The main components include alkali-free glass fiber (E-Glass) roving or high-strength glass fiber (S) roving, which are characterized by their low sodium oxide content (less than 1%). These glass fibers are known for their high strength and low elongation, which significantly enhance the load-bearing capacity of the rebar.
The manufacturing process of FRP rebar typically involves pultrusion or pultrusion-winding techniques. The pultrusion process entails impregnating glass fibers with resin and then forming them through a heated mold for curing. The pultrusion-winding process adds an extra winding step, creating a spiral winding structure on the surface of the rebar, which further improves its mechanical properties. These forming processes not only ensure the high strength and corrosion resistance of FRP rebar but also provide excellent design flexibility.
FRP rebar comes in various types. Based on surface morphology, it can be categorized into fully threaded and sand-coated (sprayed sand) surfaces. Fully threaded FRP rebar offers higher bond strength and is ideal for applications requiring high bond strength. Sand-coated FRP rebar enhances bond strength with concrete through surface treatment. Additionally, depending on the type of glass fiber used, there are several kinds, such as ordinary glass fiber rebar, basalt fiber rebar, aramid fiber rebar, and carbon fiber rebar.

Application
(i) Construction Field
FRP rebar has a wide range of applications in the construction field. It can be used for wall reinforcement and roof support in buildings, enhancing the overall stability and safety of structures. In situations where it is necessary to reduce the self-weight of the structure and increase the load-bearing capacity, the lightweight and high-strength characteristics of FRP rebar make it an ideal choice.
(ii) Transportation Field
In bridge construction, FRP rebar can replace traditional steel rebar, reducing the self-weight of bridges and improving their load-bearing capacity and seismic performance. In highway construction, it can be used for road reinforcement and support, enhancing the smoothness and durability of the pavement.
(iii) Infrastructure Field
FRP rebar can also be applied in foundation pit projects as anchor rods, effectively solving problems related to rigid structures not being able to extend beyond the land use red line and becoming permanent obstacles. In corrosive environments such as seaports, chemical plants, and water treatment plants, FRP rebar can effectively resist chemical corrosion, extending the service life of projects.
(iv) Special Fields
In hospital magnetic resonance imaging equipment rooms and other places where good wave-transmitting properties are required, the non-magnetic and wave-transmitting properties of FRP rebar make it the preferred material. Additionally, FRP rebar is suitable for high-gas areas, as its flame-retardant and anti-static properties can effectively reduce safety risks.

Advantages Of Epoxy Transparent Fiberglass Rods
(i) High Strength and Lightweight
FRP rebar boasts very high tensile strength, typically exceeding that of steel rebar of the same size by about 20%. The rod strength is approximately twice that of an equivalent diameter ribbed steel rebar. Despite its high strength, FRP rebar weighs only about 1/4 as much as steel rebar of the same volume. This characteristic significantly reduces the labor intensity for workers during transportation and installation, as well as transportation costs.
(ii) Excellent Corrosion Resistance
FRP rebar has outstanding corrosion resistance, capable of withstanding harsh chemical environments such as acids, alkalis, and salts. In damp and corrosive environments, FRP rebar can effectively replace steel rebar, extending the service life of structures.
(iii) Easy Cutting and Construction
FRP rebar is easy to cut and can be processed with ordinary tools without damaging the cutting blades. This feature makes FRP rebar more convenient to use on construction sites.
(iv) Electrical and Thermal Insulation, Non-Magnetic
FRP rebar is a non-conductive material with excellent electrical and thermal insulation properties. This makes it particularly suitable for building structures where insulation is required, such as military projects and server rooms. Additionally, FRP rebar is non-magnetic, meaning it will not interfere with the surrounding electromagnetic environment.
(v) Strong Design Flexibility
FRP rebar has stable elastic modulus and size stability under thermal stress, allowing for arbitrary thermal forming. This characteristic enables FRP rebar to be custom-manufactured according to user requirements, meeting various special shapes and length needs.
